Bo French

Bo French, Republican, is certified for railroad commissioner. The Ethics Commission list shows Bo French with office held listed as county party chair, a treasurer appointment dated November 12, 2025, and office sought as railroad commissioner. The list does not name the county. Tarrant County's elections board page lists Bo French as Tarrant County Republic Party Chair. That is the page's wording. The same list names the Democratic Party chair. The page does not give a biography.

What this job is

A railroad commissioner sits on the Railroad Commission of Texas. The commission no longer regulates railroads. That work ended in 2005, when the last rail duties moved to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The commission is the state's main regulator of oil and natural gas, pipelines, natural gas utilities, propane, critical natural gas infrastructure, and coal and uranium surface mining. Commissioners are elected statewide to six-year staggered terms. One commissioner seat is on the ballot every two years. The commissioners choose their own chairman.

Who holds it now

Jim Wright holds the line this race follows. The commission's past-through-present list puts him in the group that runs back to W. P. McLean, and it lists Wright from January 4, 2021 to the present. His commission biography says he was elected in November 2020. Commissioners serve six-year staggered terms, and one seat is on the ballot every two years, so that line is the one whose next term begins in 2027. Christi Craddick and Wayne Christian hold the other two seats. Those seats are not this race. The commissioners page does not print a sentence that names the November ballot.
