What this job is

The county judge page names the judge and does not describe the job. State law does say a county judge may order people to leave a disaster area, and may control who enters or leaves that area, in both the cities and the unincorporated parts of the county, when the judge considers it necessary to protect life or to respond to the disaster.

The Office of Court Administration's October 2026 chart says every Texas county has one constitutional county court, which can hear some civil, criminal, probate, juvenile, and appeal cases. The chart does not say which of those cases the Tom Green County judge still hears. The county also has two county courts at law.
